The Truth About Asher and Super Bowl XLIV...

I have never been a big football fan, but for some reason I got a little bit into it this season. Not enough to pick a team to root for, or to even identify any of the players on the field, but enough that I was kinda excited to throw a little Super Bowl 2010 party. We easily changed the Sunday dinner menu from the usual pot roast and mashed potatoes to meatballs, chicken wings and Chex mix. Everyone brought their contributions, and the night was destined to be a hit.

Asher and Daddy love to watch sports together, so naturally I was doubly excited to have our little man at the party this year. I even let him wear his "Mommy's Touchdown Cutie" jammies all day to honor the event. I was looking forward to seeing his reaction to the commotion and how he would interact with everyone at the party. The reaction I WAS NOT expecting was this:

Look at that face!!! That boy is hooked! I know Asher likes action, but this baby couldn't tear his eyes from the screen. Could this be a foreshadowing of life to come?? Are visions of sitting in the rain on cold metal bleachers for countless high school football games dancing through my head?? Who knows.

What I do know is that the responsible mom in my head wants me to tell everyone is that I do not let my kid watch hours of football each day, especially not on Sunday. But, secretly, the Truth is... I am starting to think that Drew Brees and Peyton Manning might just be my new favorite babysitters.

  1. Ha! It's about time we had some boys around here that actually liked watching sports. It was a fun and very yummy night.
